1/8 Monogram 1985 Corvette

Hey folks!

So my Dad finally got tired of me bugging him about his 1/8 Monogram '85 Vette. I went out to his place with the wife yesterday for supper etc and he finally helped me get it out of one of his sheds! He and I had done quite a lot of work on it before we stopped. I think I was 6 or 7 when we were building it. I don't think my Dad had ever built a model before, because looking at it, it's not that great Stick out tongue

The funny part of the story is that after we finally got it out of the shed, we opened the box to find a mouse had shredded the instructions and made a little home out of them. Needless to say the box was filled with a nest and droppings. Dad and I took a few minutes and pulled everything out and made sure we had all the pieces. The box is unfortunately unsalvagable, but there seems to be only a couple of broken parts. The a-pillars are great, and the glass is decent. Also, thanks to the Drastic Plastics fotki page, I have all the instructions and decals.

I plan on building this as a gift for him. I'm definitely thinking this Christmas to give myself lots of time to work on it. The first step will be to clean everything since it's all quite unsanitary right now. I'd like give it a good bath before I do anything with it.

In the mean time I am going to search the forums for info on taking the model apart and stripping the paint. I haven't had to do this yet, so it will be all new for me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated Wink

Anyways, here's a few photos of the 2 foot long beast.

By the way, the roll of electrical tape is to give an idea of scale.
