'30 Coupe on Deuce rails

After purchasing this Monogram reissue '30 5-window and a Revell '32 5-window, with the intention of combining the two into a build inspired by a certain 1:1 hot rod, I realized that the build would require some RMCM and Modelhaus parts to truly make me happy...so in the meantime, this one's getting built up using reject parts from a Revell '32 Tudor and a few select parts from the '32 5-window (Like the nice chromed hairpins).

Despite the fact that the Monogram body is 1:24 and the Revell frame is 1:25, the frame reveal lines up fairly well with the body.

It will be un-chopped, un-channeled, but hopefully very low due to a Z in the back and a torsion-bar front suspension setup.

Front axle is a spare '37 piece modified for extra drop and converted to poseable steering. Not sure how the steering linkages are going to work yet...

Parts-box steering column will have levers made from pins dipped in epoxy/painted silver.

Dash is either going to be the stock kit part, or a spare '31 piece with the larger '31 gauge cluster, which has gauges closer in size to various decals I have in the junk box.

The floor is styrene sheet/tube, with a trans hump made from 1/2 of an aircraft kit's nose cone.

The frame is pinched to the width of the grille for a smooth look, with new engine mounts.Header clearance could be an issue... but we'll see.

A strip has been added to the trunk to narrow up the panel gaps, and the kit rumble-seat hinges were removed and replaced with scratchbuilt wire n' tube hinges.

Now for pics!
