AMT '62 Corvette

While waiting for the new Revell kit to appear, I decided to go ahead and kicky this crummy old AMT '62 Vette (which I've been working on off and on for years) through the goal posts and be done with it. What a wretched kit, definitely one of AMT's worst, owing to the comically undersized headlights, which thrown off the whole front end. The styrene backbirth fought me every step of the way, especially the fitting of the grilles in the front end, and as you can see the hardtop glass doesn't fit particularly well either.

Pretty much straight OOB except for the wheels and tires which I think came from a reissue of the AMT '63 Corvette kit. Paint is Testor Lacquer Hondruras Maroon, shot over a primer of Model Master Rust enamel, and rubbed out directly (i.e., no clearcoat). Most of the "chome" trim (such as the windshield frame and rocker panel trim) was done by airbrushing Testors Silver on it and them masking that off before the final color coats were shot.

As soon as the Revell kit appears, I'm gonna figger out a way to make the hard top from either the AMT '62 or the MPC '57 Vette fit it, and then I'm gonna build a GOOD one with exactly the same paint job.
