AMT 1950 Chevy 3100 Texaco Pickup

I was having a wonderful time with this kit - all the modules went together very nicely - then, I entered the domain of "final assembly" and everything started to fall apart... The passenger interior did not fit well inside the shell. The shell did not sit well on the frame. The bed seemed way too high... and this is where I would really like some suggestions - the whole thing seems to sit way too high off the frame! Now, perhaps this is the way the 3100 is supposed to be - riding high to keep the loads in the bed from bottoming out against the tires. If so, please let me know so I don't start trying to modify anything else.
